The 4th Workshop on Microbial Resources was held in collaboration with Japan Bioindustry Association on the premise of Tamagawa University.  Director of Merck Sharp & Dohme, Spain that is known as center of natural product drug discovery and several distinguished scientists from top industry or university highlighted  on "Natural Product Research and its Strategies", which will soon be very important in the post-genomic era.  They focused how actual microbes are utilized and how screening assays are established.  In total 64 participants were actively participated in the workshop and we are looking forward to meeting at the next workshop in June 2002.
