The 10th Tamagawa-Riken Dynamic Brain Forum -DBF'07 will be held on March 5-9, 2007 at Hakuba Tokyu Hotel in Hakuba Village,
Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
Modern approaches to understand the mechanisms of higher brain function
are increasingly concerned with neuronal dynamics. The Dynamic Brain Forum(DBF),
initiated by the Tamagawa University Brain Science Research Center, has
in recent years organized a series of workshops, which successfully brought
together theoretical and experimental brain researchers to discuss new
findings and concepts related to the dynamics of higher brain function.
In 2007, the DBF in Hakuba, Japan is the 10th of its kind, following precursors
at Tamagawa University, Tokyo, Japan (1996), in Bochum, Germany
(1997), Riken, Fuji-Hakone, Japan (1998), Asilomar, Pacific Grove, California, USA (1999), Beijing, China (2000), Breisach, Germany (2001), Visegrad, Hungary (2002), Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil (2004) and Auckland, New Zealand (2005). As before,
the purpose of the meeting is to bring together theorists who honor
experimental facts and experimentalists with an open ear for theoretical
suggestions.
The general theme of DBF'07 is Cortical Dynamics: Physiology, Theory and
Applications. The forum is organized in several sessions focussing on different
aspects of the theme, with total 10 invited talks. In addition, there will be poster presentations on newest results by several
of the discussants and participants. Poster will be up during these three
days of meeting, allowing comprehensive discussions by participants. We
encourage the participants to use the various breaks to visit the posters
and discuss their contents with the authors.
All of papers in Forum are provided in the CD-ROM for participants.
Preceding the Forum, there will also be two full days of Tutorial Programs, primarily oriented toward young researchers and Ph.D.students interested in the theory and
applications of various kinds of dynamic brain function.
We hope that the DBF'07 may inspire both of experimental and theoretical
researchers, and thereby may contribute to strengthen the interactions
between these approaches in Neuroscience. In this spirit we wish all of
participants a successful and enjoyable meeting.
Finally this meeting DBF is an annual international forum organized by
the Tamagawa University Brain Science Research Center. In 2007, the DBF'07
is generously co-sponsored by Riken Brain Institute, Integrative Brain
Research Project, Japanese Neural Network Society, Aihara Complexity Modelling
Project and by the 21st Century COE Programs in Tamagawa University, Kyushu
Institute of Technology and Hokkaido University. We thank all of sponsors
for their kind support.
