Tamagawa K-12 & University was founded in 1929 by Kuniyoshi Obara, with "Zenjin" education as its first precept. The school started with 111 students and 18 faculty members and has grown into a comprehensive campus with a K-12 academy, university (with Colleges of Humanities, Agriculture, Engineering, Business Administration, Education, Arts, Arts and Sciences, and Tourism and Hospitality) and graduate schools. It brings together about 10,600 people in a large campus on a site of about 610,000㎡/150 acres. The educational activities conducted at Tamagawa are diverse, and are all geared to the 21st century.
Since its founding, “Zenjin Education” has been at the heart of our educational philosophy, and our educational ideal is to harmoniously create the six values of truth, goodness, beauty, holiness, soundness, and wealth in the formation of the students and school children’s character. In order to realize these ideals, we conduct our educational activities in accordance with our “12 Precepts of Education: Zenjin Education, Respect for Individuality, Self-Study and Autonomy, Highly Efficient Education, Education that is Scholarship, Respect for nature, Trust within the School Community, “ROSAKU” Education, Uniting Opposites, One Who Walks the Extra Mile and One Who is a Pioneer in Life, 24-Hour Education, and Global Education”.
