Program
Course Descriptions
Course 1. Current Issues in Japan (30 hours)
Take lectures on topics in the fields of "Education," "Society,” “Culture,” “Business,” and “Tourism.” Go on fieldwork to the places related to the class topics.

Course 2. Elementary Japanese (8 hours)
Acquire the elementary Japanese necessary for traveling and staying in Japan.
Course 3. Japanese Culture (8 hours)
Experience traditional Japanese culture. The detail will be released later.
Course 4. Excursions (Not included in the total contact hours)
Visit sightseeing places around Tokyo area (day trip).

Academic Credit
Credit: Equivalent to 3 credits (Total contact hours: 46 hours)
Participants will receive a Certificate at the Closing Ceremony. Tamagawa will issue a Grade Report with details on the grading system and total contact hours of the program. Tamagawa will send them to the participant’s home university or to the participants via e-mail within one month of the end date of the program.
Tamagawa will not issue any credits to participants. So, if participants want to receive credits for this course, they should consult with their home university whether they can receive the credits for this course.
Eligibility
- ・A student at one of Tamagawa's partner universities
- ・18 years old and over on the first day of the program
- ・Those who can follow instructions in English
- ・Japanese language ability is not required, however it is recommended to study some before coming to Japan.
- ・Those who can participate in all programs
- ・Those who can obtain a visitor's visa into Japan (if needed)

Payment Deadline
Successful Applicants will receive an invoice via Flywire. Please follow the instructions on the invoice to complete the payment. Completing the payment by the deadline will confirm participation in the program.

Cancellation Policy
Regarding cancellations after payment of the program fee, refunds will be made according to the following percentages.

- ●In the event that conducting this program becomes difficult due to disasters, riots, terrorism, or other such events within Japan, and TU determines to cancel the program; the full amount students have paid, excluding actual expenses incurred and the handing fee, will be refunded.
- ●Depending on the exchange rate between the time of payment and the time of refund, the refunded amount may not be the same as the amount paid.

Accommodation
Accommodation options
Tamagawa has a partnership with Toyoko Inn Tokyo Machida-eki Odakyu-sen Higashi-guchi and can arrange a room for participants with the following conditions.
Accommodation fee (Breakfast included): About 125,000 JPY for 17 nights (as for 2025)
Room type: Non-smoking single room.
Checking-in: July 29; Checking-out: August 15; 17 nights
* Accommodation fee must be paid together with the program fee.
For those who wish to arrange their own housing may declare at the time of application. If you have made your own accommodation arrangements, please report your accommodation information to Tamagawa University by email (satama@tamagawa.ac.jp) before the start of the program.
However, participants who received support from Tamagawa University in obtaining a visa are required to stay at a hotel reserved by Tamagawa University.
