The College of Arts and Sciences believes three conditions describe the individuals and workers sought by businesses and society at large.
First, they must have the ability to solve problems. Second, they must have the ability to identify challenges and address them through their professional duties. Third, they must have the ability to get along with others—that is, the ability to communicate. The goal of the College of Arts and Sciences is to train students based on an awareness of the types of individuals society will need.
While the College does not provide vocational education based on a single specialty, it does provide numerous opportunities for students to consider their own careers based on proactive career education beginning from their first year. Through these opportunities, students learn to confidently seek employment based on skills gained through volunteer activities on and off campus, as well as seminars and other practical courses.
