The Pest Clinic Bio-Bank (PCBB) is a culture collection of preserved fungal strains isolated from high-value crops across Luzon Island, Philippines. It is housed at the Biobank and Natural Resources Division (BNRD) of the Plant Pests and Diseases Clinic and Surveillance Research Center (PPDCSRC) of Central Luzon State University, and serves as a critical resource for plant disease research, diagnostics, and sustainable disease management.
Established on 9th February 2026, PCBB was developed with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency - Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (JICA-SATREPS) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the Banana and Cacao Disease Management Project. The bio-bank was established through international collaboration with Tamagawa University, Tokyo, Japan, strengthening regional and global efforts in plant health research.
PCBB aims to preserve fungal strains and genetic material for microbial biodiversity, act as regional center for bio-bank repository of fungal plant pathogens isolated from high value crops, provide authentic fungal strains with corresponding information for research, development and teaching purposes, facilitate national and international collaboration and knowledge sharing between regions and countries for better understanding and utilization of fungal diversity.
